On March 6, 2026, against the picturesque backdrop of Buronzo Castle, “Riso D’Autore” took place—an event celebrating Piedmont’s agricultural excellence, organized by the Consortium for the Protection of the Baraggia Biellese and Vercellese Rice DOP.
The event’s culinary offerings were curated by MAIO Catering, a division of the MAIO Group, which has been showcasing the region’s hospitality and gastronomic culture for fifty years.
Eugenio Moreni, Executive Chef of MAIO Catering, led the showcooking, highlighting the qualities that make this rice unique: texture, firmness when cooked, and great versatility in the kitchen. The result was a true journey through the flavors of Piedmont, with Baraggia DOP Rice taking center stage alongside other regional delicacies such as Piedmont IGP Hazelnuts and the region’s DOC and DOCG wines.
MAIO, whose family roots lie in the Baraggia area of Vercelli, brought its culinary vision to the event: respect for ingredients, promotion of the local territory, and a continuous exploration of the balance between tradition and modernity.
